Hermoine Grant Calhoun Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize achievement of blind scholars and to create opportunity for all blind people. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: All applicants must be legally blind; he/she must be pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, post-secondary course of study in a degree program at a United States institution; he/she must be participant in NFB national convention and in all scheduled scholarship program activities. Criteria: Committee of Scholarship Program will evaluate the application based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. Number Awarded: 22. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the application form; he/she must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals that can describe the academic ability, leadership skills, and/or community involvement; copies of transcript of record and a photocopy of score reports for all standardized tests taken for college admission(ACT, SAT or other); applicant must provide a letter of proof of legal blindness from a qualified professional; and an affiliate President’s letter. Deadline: March 31.

Jennica Ferguson Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize achievement by blind scholars and create opportunity for all blind people; to keep alive the memory of a young woman who dealt with blindness and terminal illness with grace and strength, she frequently assured others she drew from the Federation and from her faith in God. Focus: Education, Elementary; Education, Secondary. Qualif.: Applicant must be legally blind; he/she must be pursuing or planning a career in elementary, secondary, or postsecondary teaching; he/she must be participant in NFB national convention and in all scheduled scholarship program activities. Criteria: committee of Scholarship Program will evaluate the application based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. Number Awarded: 14. To Apply: Applicant must fill out the application form; he/she must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals that can describe the academic ability, leadership skills, and/or community involvement; copies of transcript of record and a photocopy of score reports for all standardized tests taken for college admission(ACT, SAT or other); applicant must provide a letter of proof of legal blindness from a qualified professional; and an affiliate President’s letter. Guide Dogs for the Blind Dorothea and Roland Bohde Leadership Scholarships

Criteria: Committee of Scholarship Program will evaluate the application based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need.

Criteria: Committee of Scholarship Program will evaluate the application based on academic excellence, community service, and financial need.
