Independent, comprehensive, women only. Awards bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Founded 1852. Setting: 135-acre urban campus with easy access to San Francisco. Endowment: $146.6 million. Research spending 2003-04: $1.1 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $12,862 per student. Total enrollment: 1,256. Faculty: 154 (87 full-time, 67 part-time). Application deadlines: 3/1, 11/15 for early action. Notification: 3/30, 12/15 for early action.

Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $40. Comprehensive fee: $36,485 includes full-time tuition ($25,250), mandatory fees ($1835), and college room and board ($9400). College room only: $4855. Room and board charges vary according to board plan and housing facility. Part-time tuition: $4210 per course. Part-time tuition varies according to course load.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 30 open to all.
