MALDEF Law School Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To increase the number of Latinos in the legal profession. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Students must be enrolled full time in law school. Criteria: Scholarship will be awarded to candidates who have outstanding academic record, including participation and leadership in extracurricular activities.

Funds Avail.: $7,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete and send the following materials: a completed and signed MALDEF Scholarship form; current resume; a typed personal statement of 750 words or less, double-spaced, detailing professional objectives, plans after school, and describing your past involvement in activities which applicant believes have served or benefited the Latino community and how these activities relate to your decision to pursue a career in the legal profession; an official undergraduate transcript or photocopy of an official transcript; For law schoolstudents who have already completed one year or more of law school, please, also provide: an official law school transcript or photocopy of an official transcript; a letter of recommendation describing your involvement in the Latino community from a person familiar with that involvement; a letter of recommendation from a college, or law school professor; and a completed financial need statement (enclose) from the school applicant is attending that indicates the financial assistance provided to you by the school's financial aid office.
