Stan Beck Fellowships (Undergraduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for needy students at the graduate or undergraduate level of their education in entomology and related disciplines at a college or university in the United States, Mexico, or Canada. Focus: Biology. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduate or undergraduate students in entomology or related disciplines at colleges or universities in the United States, Mexico, or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on physical limitation, economic, minority, or environmental condition; recommendation of the professors and advisors; enthusiasm, interest and achievement in entomology or related disciplines; notable academic plans; and impact of need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a letter of nomination; description of applicant's academic studies including academic plan; a statement of the applicant's need or challenge (not more than 2 pages); letter of recommendation from the applicant's academic advisor; and two letters of support demonstrating the applicant's need or challenge. BioQuip Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help students achieve their goal of obtaining a degree in entomology or pursuing a career as an entomolo-

gist. Focus: Biology. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in entomology in any college or university in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on committee's review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: No stated amount. To Apply: Applicants must fill out an application form. Applicants must submit letter of nomination; statement not exceeding two-pages in length stating interest in entomology, career goals, financial need, and other pertinent factors which illustrate qualifications for the scholarship; three statements from school officials or other knowledgeable individuals attesting to entomological interests, character, aptitude and financial need; and current official transcript of college grades. Pioneer Hi-Bred International Graduate Student Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To recognize and encourage innovative research and graduate education in the area of entomology with a focus on key insects or complexes of insects that effect corn, soybeans, canola, alfalfa, or other significant commodity crops. Focus: Biology. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduate students; must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher; must attend college/university in the United States; must have demonstrated excellence in the study of entomology or a related discipline. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the demonstrated excellence in the study of entomology or related discipline.

Funds Avail.: no stated amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the application form. Applicants must submit an official transcript of college grades; three letters of recommendation; description of the student's completed and proposed program of academic studies including brief statement of the goals, rationale and justification for the proposed project; short essay on why the student is interested in the study of insects impacting crops including significant commodity crops; statement of long range career goals and description of how the graduate program will help the student to attain the goals; up to three letters of endorsement from professional colleagues and clientele.
