Atlantic Provinces Library Association Memorial Awards (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for students who are in need. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must have a degree and must be currently doing research. Criteria: Priority will be given to those students with financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must send a letter outlining proposed research and estimated costs along with a copy of your curriculum vitae. Deadline: March 31. Carin Alma E. Somers Scholarship Trust (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Canadian students with financial need. Focus: Library and Information Studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be Canadian citizens; must be residents of Atlantic Provinces; and must have demonstrated financial need. Criteria: Selection of recipients will be recommended by a committee of the four Provincial Vice Presidents and the President-Elect to the Executive Committee.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form.

Remarks: Successful applicants will have been accepted in a School of Graduate Studies as candidates for a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies accredited by the American Library Association. The award will normally be announced at the Annual Atlantic Provinces Library Association Spring Conference. Contact: Atlantic
