ACHE/American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be either the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam and who are residents of Alabama; and must be attending an institutions having on-campus housing. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applications are available from the American Legion Department Headquarters, American Legion Auxiliary, 120 North Jackson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104. Deadline: April 1. Contact: 334-262-1176.

ACHE/American Legion Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be either the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam and who are residents of Alabama; and must be attending an institutions having on-campus housing. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

ACHE Junior and Community College Athletic Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be full-time student enrolled in public junior and community colleges in Alabama. Criteria: Selection is based on demonstrated athletic ability determined through try-outs.

Funds Avail.: Not to exceed total tuition and books. To Apply: Applicants must contact the coach, athletic director, or financial aid officer at any public junior or community college in Alabama in order to be considered.

ACHE Junior and Community College Performing Arts Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: Performing arts. Qualif.: Applicant must be full-time student enrolled in public junior and community colleges in Alabama. Criteria: Selection is based on demonstrated talent determined through competitive auditions.

Funds Avail.: Not to exceed total tuition and books. To Apply: Applications must contact the financial aid office at any public junior or community college in Alabama. Competitive auditions will also be scheduled as part of the application process.

ACHE Police Officers and Firefighters Survivors' Educational Assistance Programs (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist the education of the dependents or spouses of police officers or firefighters killed in the line of duty in Alabama. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be the dependent or the spouse of a police officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty; enrolled in an undergraduate program at a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

Funds Avail.: Covers tuition, fees, books and supplies. To Apply: Application forms may be obtained from the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. Contact: 334-242-2273.

ACHE Senior Adult Scholarships (Two Year College, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support Alabama senior citizens with educational pursuits. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a senior citizen (aged 60 and over) who meet the admission requirements and attend public two-year post-secondary institutions in Alabama. Criteria: Selection is based on the admission at the public two-year postsecond-ary educational institution in Alabama.

Funds Avail.: Full-tuition. To Apply: Applicants must contact the financial aid office at any public two-year post-secondary educational institution in Alabama in order to be considered.

ACHE Two-Year College Academic Scholarships (Two Year College, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support students with educational pursuits. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be student accepted for enrollment at public two-year postsecondary educational institutions in Alabama. Criteria: Selection is based on demonstrated academic merit as determined by the institutional scholarship committee.

Funds Avail.: Not to exceed in-state tuition and books. To Apply: Application forms are available at the financial aid office at any public two-year postsecondary educational institution in Alabama.

Alabama Gi Dependents Educational Benefit Programs (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a dependent or spouses of eligible Alabama veterans attending a public postsecondary educational institutions in Alabama; enrolled as an undergraduate student. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

Funds Avail.: Tuition, fees and book assistance. To Apply: Application forms may be obtained from the Alabama State Department of Veterans Affairs, PO Box 1509, Montgomery, AL 36102-1509, or from any county veterans service officer. Contact: Alabama State Department of Veterans Affairs, at 334-242-5077.

Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Programs (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist Alabama National Guard members to attend a public postsecondary educational institution in Alabama. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a student who is an active member in good standing with a federally recognized unit of the Alabama National Guard. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

Funds Avail.: $500-$1000. To Apply: Applications are available from Alabama National Guard units. Forms must be signed by a representative of the Alabama Military Department and the financial aid officer at the college/university the applicant plans to attend.

Alabama Scholarships for Dependents of Blind Parents (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from families in which the head of the family is blind and whose family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be an Alabama resident; having a family in which the head of the family is blind or with family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits for attendance at an Alabama postsecondary institution. Criteria: Selection is based on need.

Funds Avail.: Covers instructional fees and tuition. To Apply: Applications are available from Debra Culver, Rehab. Specialist, Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, 2129 East South Blvd., Montgomery, AL 36116-2455.

Alabama Student Assistance Programs (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be undergraduate student; an Alabama resident attending an eligible Alabama institution. Criteria: Selection is based on need.

Funds Avail.: $300-$2500. To Apply: Applicants must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid available from high school guidance office or the financial aid office at the institution planning to attend.

Alabama Student Grant Programs (Undergraduate/Grant)

Purpose: To support the education of Alabama students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be part-time or full-time undergraduate student; an Alabama resident; and attending Birmingham-Southern College, Concordia College, Faulkner University, Huntingdon College, Judson College, Miles College, Oakwood College, Samford University, Selma University, Southeastern Bible College, Southern Vocational College, Spring Hill College, Stillman College, or the University of Mobile. Criteria: Selection is based on the application.

Funds Avail.: Up to $1200. To Apply: Applications are available from the financial aid office at the institution the applicant is planning to attend.
