Wilds, Amon
Wilds, Amon (c.1762–1833). English builder and architect. He designed and erected a number of houses in Brighton and Lewes, Sussex, featuring the Ammonite capital, which seems to have been his firm's trademark. His son, Amon Henry Wilds (1748–1857), with Busby, laid out the Kemp Town Estate, Brighton, and erected many stucco-faced terraces and crescents there in a style reminiscent of that of Nash, including Sussex Square, Lewes Crescent, Arundel Terrace, and Chichester Terrace (1823–c.1850). Like his father, he employed the Ammonite capital on his buildings.
