Sambin, Hugues (c.1520–c.1601). French architect, sculptor, and engineer. Familiar with the works of du Cerceau and Vredeman de Vries, as is clear from his portals on the Palais de Justice, Dijon (1583 Other), works attributed to him include the Hôtel Milsand, Rue des Forges (1561), the Maison Chasseret, 8 Rue Stephen-Liègeard (1560), and the Hôtel le Compasseur, 66 Rue Vannerie (1560s), all in Dijon, and the Palais de Justice, Besançon. A master of French Mannerism, and his work was influential. He published œuvre de la Diversité des Termes (dealing with types of term—1572).
