dysmenorrhoea (dis-men-ŏ-ree-ă) n. menstruation associated with cramping low abdominal pain radiating into the lower back and thighs. primary d. dysmenorrhoea that begins with the onset of ovulatory cycles and is associated with increased production of prostaglandin F2α by the endometrium. secondary d. dysmenorrhoea caused by organic pelvic disease, such as endometriosis or fibroids.
