SIDELIGHTS:

In Ahead of the Market: The Zacks Method for Spotting Stocks Early—in Any Economy, investment analyst and Chicago Sun Times columnist Mitch Zacks presents a method of evaluating the research of Wall Street analysts in order to find stocks on the verge of strong appreciation in price. The basis of Zacks' method is to locate companies whose projected earnings estimates are being revised higher. This method often reveals companies that are growing fast. Zacks recommends averaging the earnings estimates of a number of analysts to find those stocks most likely to increase in value. Patrick J. Brunet, reviewing the book for Library Journal, found that "the system is logical and convincingly presented." Robert Barker, in Business Week, called Zacks "a veteran tracker of analysts' earnings estimates."
