SIDELIGHTS: The prolific Spanish writer and actor Jacinto Molina, better known as Paul Naschy, has often been compared to the pioneering American horror film star Lon Chaney. As Naschy, Molina wrote and starred in a series of films about good-hearted scientist Count Waldemar Daninsky, who turns into a werewolf. Molina was first inspired by the serial films his mother took him to see as a young child, but despite his love of art and cinema, his parents wanted him to study something more practical. He went to school for architecture, but after graduation he turned his drawing skills to creating record sleeves and comic books. Before becoming an actor, Molina also wrote numerous pulp fiction novels, mostly westerns, under the pseudonym Jack Mills.
