SIDELIGHTS:

Tullio Kezich is an Italian-born film critic, playwright, and writer. Throughout his life, Kezich has worked in and around the film industry in some way or another. The vast majority of his publications also focus on cinema or notable figures of Italian cinema. One example of this is his biography, Dino: The Life and Films of Dino De Laurentiis. With Alessandra Levantesi, Kezich covers the events of De Laurentiis's life through World War II and his move to the United States. Kim Holston "recommended" the biography in her critique found in the Library Journal.

In 2006 Minna Proctor and Viviana Mazza translated Kezich's 2002 biography of Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini. Federico Fellini: His Life and Work, is one of several books Kevich has written about Fellini, his longtime friend. The biography concentrates more on Fellini's life through his films and the times rather than taking a more intimate angle. Roy Liebman wrote in his review for the Library Journal that Kezich "writes with perceptiveness and seeming objectivity about the man and, in considerable detail, his major films." A reviewer in Publishers Weekly noted the emphasis on Fellini's films, but felt that "fans hoping for more than an occasional glimpse of the man behind the movies will have to keep looking." A Kirkus Reviews contributor called Federico Fellini "a solid biography … particularly strong on the evolution of his movies' style and subject matter." The same reviewer concluded that "Kezich delineates his artistic achievements with authority and perceptiveness."
