SIDELIGHTS:

Susan Williams Goodwin told CA: "As college librarians, Peggy Whitley and I repeatedly receive requests from students for help in researching current, controversial issues. We searched for books that would serve this purpose but were unable to find any suitable texts. So, as we found good sources, we would make a note of them. Over time these notes grew into a ‘Current Issues Notebook.’ Students and teachers alike were excited about the assistance available, and we realized that a reference book of this type was sorely needed. The first book in the series brought accolades from high school librarians and requests from middle school librarians for something similar at a younger level."
