SIDELIGHTS: William D. Crump told CA: "For The Christmas Encyclopedia I originally envisioned a lighthearted quiz book of nearly 1,000 college board-type questions and answers that focused on all aspects of the Christmas season. From Advent to Epiphany, from the Nativity to Santa Claus, from foreign traditions to Scrooge, the Grinch, and 'How the Flintstones Saved Christmas,' readers could test their 'Christmas I.Q.' and explore the highlights of 2,000 years of Christmas. My publisher, on the other hand, felt that readers would better appreciate an encyclopedic approach over a massive quiz. Yet I still foresee a Christmas quiz book or a Christmas I.Q. test on the horizon."
