Viderø Finn

Viderø Fin noted Danish organist, pedagogue, and composer; b. Fuglebjerg, Aug. 15, 1906; d. Copenhagen, March 13, 1987. He went to Copenhagen and studied at the Cons, (graduated, 1926), then pursued musicological training at the Univ. (M.A., 1929). He was active as a church organist there, holding appointments at the German-French Reformed (1928), Jaegersborg (1940), Trinitas (1947), and St. Andreas (1971) churches; also toured as a recitalist. He taught theory (1935-5) and organ and harpsichord (1949-74) at the Univ. of Copenhagen; was a visiting prof, at Yale Univ. (1959-60) and North Tex. State Univ. (1967-68); also gave master classes. He wrote valuable articles on 16th-and 17th-century performance practice and ed. vols, of organ music, hymn tunes, choral pieces, and folk songs; also publ. Orgelskole (with O. Ring; 1933; 2nded., 1963). He composed choral works, organ music, piano pieces, and songs.
