Van Asperen, Bob

Van Asperen, Bob, Dutch harpsichordist and teacher; b. Amsterdam, Oct. 8,1947. He was a student of Gustav Leonhardt at the Amsterdam Cons. His career as a virtuoso commenced in 1971, and he subsequently appeared as a recitalist, chamber music player, and soloist with various early music ensembles. He also taught at the Royal Cons, of Music at The Hague (1973-88) and at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik (from 1987). Van Asperen has particularly distinguished himself in the harpsichord repertoire of the 16thto 18thcenturies.
