Stacy, Thomas, American English-horn player; b. Little Rock, Ark., Aug. 18, 1938. He received his training at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. After graduating in 1960, he made his formal debut as a soloist with the Minneapolis Sym. Orch., with which he subsequently was solo English horn. In 1972 he became solo English horn in the N.Y. Phil. He also toured as an English-horn soloist, appearing with many American orchs. Stacy was soloist in the premieres of the English-horn concertos of Skrowaczewski (Minneapolis, Nov. 21, 1969), Persichetti (N.Y., Nov. 17, 1977), and Rorem (N.Y., Jan. 27, 1994).
