Southern, Jeri (actually, Genevieve Hering)

Southern, Jeri (actually, Genevieve Hering), singer; b. Royal, Nebr., Aug. 5, 1926; d. Los Angeles, Calif., Aug. 4, 1991. Southern sang with Anita O’Day in Chicago and was signed to Decca. She was more popular in Britain than her native country; her version of “When I Fall in Love” sold better in the U.K. than the huge U.S. Doris Day hit. She recorded with Marty Paich and Billy May, but quit in the early 1960s to teach singing, settling in Southern Calif.

Discography
