Simeonov, Konstantin (Arsenievich)
Simeonov, Konstantin (Arsenievich), Russian conductor; b. Koznakovo, June 20, 1910; d. Kiev, Jan. 3, 1987. He began a career as a singer, then studied conducting at the Leningrad Cons. with Alexander Gauk. He subsequently appeared as a guest conductor throughout the Soviet Union. He served as chief conductor of the Ukrainian Theater of Opera and Ballet in Kiev (1961–66), then occupied a similar post at the Kirov Theater of Opera and Ballet in Leningrad (1966–75); he resumed his Kiev post in 1975. He also appeared as a guest conductor abroad.
