Schimon-Regan, Anna

Schimon-Regan, Anna, distinguished German soprano; b. Aich, near Karlsbad, Sept. 18, 1841; d. Munich, April 18, 1902. In 1859 she had her first singing lessons from Mme. Schubert in Karlsbad; the next year her aunt, Caroline Unger, took her to Florence and taught her until 1864. She was then engaged at the court opera in Hannover (1864–67); during the winter of 1867–68 she sang in Berlioz’s concerts in St. Petersburg. She made her first visit to England in 1869, appearing in concerts with Unger; gave song recitals there every winter until 1875. In 1872 she married Adolf Schimon and settled in Munich.
