Salmond, Felix (b London, 1888; d NY, 1952). Eng. cellist. Début London 1909. Cellist in London Str. Qt. and other chamber mus. ens. Soloist in f.p. of Elgar's Vc. Conc., 1919. Début NY 1922, settling in USA. Formed Trio of NY 1937. Head of vc. dept., Curtis Inst. 1925–42 and taught at Juilliard Sch. 1924–52. Pupils included Leonard Rose.
