Puliaschi, Giovanni Domenico

Puliaschi, Giovanni Domenico , Italian singer, chitarrone player, and composer who flourished in the early 17th century. He was a native of Rome, where he became a tenor and chaplain in the papal chapel in 1612. He also was a canon at S. Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. His vocal range made it possible for him to sing both alto and bass roles, as well as tenor. He publ. the collection Gemma musicale (Rome, 1618; corrected ed., 1618, as Musiche varie), which includes pieces for voice and continuo and an essay on singing.
