Prohaska, Felix (b Vienna, 1912; d Vienna, 1987). Austrian conductor, son of Jaro Prohaska. Taught at Graz Cons., 1936–9. Cond. of opera in Duisburg 1939–41, Strasbourg 1941–3, Prague 1943–5. Salzburg Fest. début 1945. Cond. and teacher, Vienna, 1946–55; chief cond. Frankfurt Opera 1955–61; Hanover Opera 1965–74. Dir., Hochschule für Musik, Hanover, from 1961.
