Pasquali, Niccolò
Pasquali, Niccolò, Italian violinist and composer; b. c. 1718; d. Edinburgh, Oct. 13, 1757. He went to Edinburgh (1740) and then to London (c. 1743); was in Dublin (1748–49), again in London (1750–51), again in Dublin (1751–52), and then settled in Edinburgh, where he publ. the valuable treatise Thorough-bass made easy (1757); also pubi. The Art of Fingering the Harpsichord (Edinburgh, 1758). His extant works include 12 overtures (London, 1751), 6 sonatas for Violin and Basso Continuo (1744), 2 sets of 3 sonatas for 2 Violins, Viola, and Basso Continuo (1750), many minuets, and numerous songs.
