Pandolfini, Francesco

Pandolfini, Francesco, Italian baritone, father of Angelica Pandolfini; b. Termini Imerese, Palermo, Nov. 22, 1836; d. Milan, Feb. 15, 1916. He studied with Ronconi and Vannuccini in Florence, making his debut in Gemma di Vergy in Pisa in 1859; then sang throughout Italy. In 1871 he appeared with notable success at La Scala in Milan, creating the role of Arnoldo in I Lituani by Ponchielli there in 1874. He also sang at Covent Garden in London (1877, 1882). He retired from the stage in 1890.
