Padilla, Lola Artôt de
Padilla, Lola Artôt de, Spanish soprano, daughter of Mariano Padilla y Ramos and Désirée Artôt; b. Sevres, near Paris, Oct. 5,1876; d. Berlin, April 12,1933. After vocal training with her mother, she sang in salons and concerts and made her operatic debut at the Paris Opéra-Comique in 1903. Later she toured as a concert singer through Europe. She was engaged at the Komische Oper in Berlin from 1905 to 1908 as prima donna, and from 1909 to 1927 she was a member of the Royal (later State) Opera in Berlin.
