Paciorkiewicz, Tadeusz

Paciorkiewicz, Tadeusz Polish composer, teacher, and organist; b. Sierpc, Oct. 17,1916; d. Warsaw, Nov. 21, 1998. He studied organ with Rutkowski at the Warsaw Cons, (graduated, 1942) and composition with Sikorski at the Lodz State Higher School of Music (graduated, 1951). He taught in music schools in Plock (1945–49) and Lodz (1949–59). He also taught at the Warsaw State Coll. of Music (from 1954), becoming a permanent faculty member (1959), dean of its composition, theory, and conducting dept. (1963–69), and then its rector (1969–71).
