Pacini, Antonio Francesco Gaetano Saverio

Pacini, Antonio Francesco Gaetano Sav-erio, Italian-born French composer and music publisher; b. Naples, July 7, 1778; d. Paris, March 10, 1866. He studied harmony and counterpoint with Fenaroli at the Cons, della Pietà de’ Turchini in Naples. After directing an orch. and teaching there, he went to Nîmes. In 1804 he settled in Paris and taught singing until about 1822. With Momigny, he founded a publishing firm in 1806. In addition to music, they pubi, the Journal des troubadours (c. 1806–14), Le troubadour ambulant (1817–20?), and L’écho lyrique (1827–30). Among his compositions were the opéras-comiques Isabelle et Gertrude (Nîmes?, 1801?), Point d’adversaire (Paris, April 8, 1805), Le voyage impromptu (Paris, April 5,1806?), and Amour et mauvaise tête (Paris, May 17, 1808), and many songs.
