Orr, C(harles) W(ilfred), English composer; b. Cheltenham, July 31, 1893; d. Painswick, Gloucestershire, Feb. 24, 1976. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He wrote songs in the manner of German lieder, to words by English poets; his set of seven songs to texts from Housman’s A Shropshire Lad is notable.
