Nussbaum, Adam
Nussbaum, Adam, jazz drummer; b. N.Y., Nov. 29, 1955. He was raised in Norwalk, Conn., from age four. He studied piano from ages seven to 12 with a woman who had been a student of Bartok. He was originally self-taught on drums. After attending Emerson Coll. for a year, he returned to N.Y. at age 18 to study at City Coll. while sitting in and gigging around the city. He has long been in demand around N.Y. and has recorded with John Scofield (playing with him starting in 1977), Michael Brecker, and others. He has led his own trio with John Abercrombie and Dan Wall since 1991. He teaches at N.Y.U., the New School, and Long Island Univ.
