Noehren, Robert
Noehren, Robert, American organist, organ builder, and composer; b. Buffalo, Dec. 16, 1910. He studied at the Inst. of Musical Art in N.Y. and at the Curtis Inst. of Music in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. After demobilization, he studied at the Univ. of Mich. (B.Mus., 1948). He taught at Davidson Coll. in N.C. (1946-49) and at the Univ. of Mich. (1949-76); also toured extensively as a recitalist in North America and overseas. He built organs for churches in Milwaukee, Buffalo, San Francisco, and other cities. Among his works are a number of solo organ pieces, including 2 sonatas.
