Menges, Isolde (Marie)
Menges, Isolde (Marie), English violinist and teacher, sister of (Siegfried Frederick) Herbert Menges; b. Hove (of German parents), May 16, 1893; d. Richmond, Surrey, Jan. 13, 1976. Both her parents were violinists, and she studied at home. She then went to St. Petersburg for lessons with Auer. She made her London debut on Feb. 4, 1913, and her N.Y debut on Oct. 21, 1916. In 1931 she was appointed to the faculty of the Royal Coll. of Music in London, where she also organized the Menges Quartet.
