Massart, Nestor-Henri-Joseph

Massart, Nestor-Henri-Joseph, Belgian tenor; b. Ciney, Oct. 20, 1849; d. Ostend, Dec. 19, 1899. He was an officer in the Belgian army when his remarkable voice attracted the attention of the royal family, through whose influence he was granted a leave of absence for study. He then sang with success in Brussels, Lyons, Cairo, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Mexico.
