Knyvett, Charles, Sr.
Knyvett, Charles, Sr., English organist and tenor, father of Charles Knyvett Jr. , and William Knyvett; b. probably in London, Feb. 22, 1752; d. there, Jan. 19, 1822. He was a chorister at Westminster Abbey, and also studied at Westminster School. He became a member of the Royal Soc. of Musicians (1778). He was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal (1786–1808), serving as its organist (1796–1822), and was also active with Samuel Harrison in various concert ventures (from 1789).
