Kaufman, Harry
Kaufman, Harry, American pianist and teacher; b. N.Y., Sept. 6, 1894; d. Beverly Hills, Aug. 22, 1961. He studied at the Inst. of Musical Art with Stojowski in N.Y.; later was a pupil of Josef Hofmann. In 1924 he was appointed teacher of the art of accompanying at the Curtis Inst, of Music in Philadelphia. Though principally known as an excellent accompanist, he also appeared as soloist with the N.Y. Phil., the Philadelphia Orch. et al. and as a member of several chamber music groups.
