Jorgensen, Poul

Jorgensen, Poul, Danish conductor; b. Copenhagen, Oct. 26, 1934. He was educated at the Univ. of Copenhagen and the Royal Danish Cons, of Music in Copenhagen. In 1961 he became a conductor at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen, and in 1966 he was appointed Royal Conductor. He was also active in Sweden as a conductor of the Radio Sym. Orch. in Stockholm. In his concert programs, he steadfastly cultivated symphonic works by Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Finnish composers.
