Ivry, Paul Xavier Désiré, Marquis d’
Ivry, Paul Xavier Désiré, Marquis d’, French composer; b. Beaune, Feb. 4, 1829; d. Hyeres, Dec. 18, 1903. He was autodidact as a composer. Ivry used the nom de plume Richard Yrvid. Among his works were the operas Falma (c. 1850), Quentin Metsys (1854), La maison du docteur (Dijon, 1855), Omphale et Pénélope (c. 1860), and Les amants de Vérone (private preview, Paris, May 12, 1867; stage premiere, Paris, Oct. 12, 1878).
