Gheluwe, Leon van
Gheluwe, Leon van, Belgian composer; b. Wanneghem-Lede, Sept. 15, 1837; d. Ghent, July 14, 1914. He studied in Ghent with Gevaert and others. He became a prof, at the Ghent Cons. (1869-71), and later was director of the École de Musique in Bruges (1871-1900). He wrote a Flemish opera, Philippine van Vlaanderen (Brussels, 1876), and a number of songs.
