Frege, Livia (née Gerhard)
Frege, Livia (née Gerhard), German soprano; b. Gera, June 13, 1818; d. Leipzig, Aug. 22, 1891. She studied with Pholenz. In 1832 she made her concert debut in Leipzig, where her operatic debut followed in 1833 as Spohr’s Jessonda. After singing at the Berlin Royal Opera (1835–36), she pursued a concert career. She organized her own orch. and choir in Leipzig, and became a close friend and admired interpreter of Mendelssohn.
