Delogu, Gaetano

Delogu, Gaetano , Italian conductor; b. Messina, April 14, 1934. He studied violin as a child, then music and law (degree 1958) at the Univ. of Catania. He also studied conducting with Ferrara in Rome and Venice. After winning first prize in the Florence (1964) and Mitropoulos (1968) competitions, he appeared as a guest conductor in Europe and the U.S. He was music director of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo (1975–78) and the Denver Sym. Orch. (1979–86).
