Collard, Jean-Philippe

Collard, Jean-Philippe, French pianist; b. Mareuil-sur-Ay, Jan. 27, 1948. He began piano studies as a child; then studied at the Paris Cons, with Pierre Sanean, graduating at age 16 with a premier prix; subsequently won several honors, including third prize in the Long-Thibaud Competition in 1969. Collard appeared as soloist with leading European orchs. and in recitals. He made his American debut in 1973 with the San Francisco Sym.; then made a number of coast-to-coast tours of the U.S.
