Blankenburg, Quiriti van (full name, Quirinus Gerbrandszoon van Blankenburg)

Blankenburg, Quiriti van (full name, Quirinus Gerbrandszoon van Blankenburg), Dutch organist; b. Gouda, 1654; d. The Hague, May 12, 1739. He studied organ with his father and served as a church organist in Rotterdam (1671–76) and in Gorinchem (1676–81). Later on he went to Leiden for further study at the univ. there; his next engagement was as organist at the Hoofkerk in The Hague (1687–1702); he was then employed at the Nieuwe Kerk. He publ. Elementa musica (The Hague, 1729), and also compiled Clavicembel en Orgelboek der gereformeerde Psalmen en Kerkgezangen (The Hague, 1732; 3rd ed., 1772) and a method for flute.
