Bertouch, Georg von
Bertouch, Georg von, German-born Norwegian composer and soldier; b. Helmershausen, June 19, 1668; d. Christiania, Sept. 14, 1743. After a sojourn in Italy, he joined the Danish army and spent his last years as commander of Akershus Castle in Christiania. Among his works are sacred cantatas and 24 sonatas, the latter greatly influenced by Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues.
