Wondrous Oblivion ★★★ 2006 (PG)

Though 11-year-old David (Smith) loves the sport of cricket, he lacks the skills, so when a cricket-loving Jamaican family moves in next door he's overjoyed. The family's patriarch, Dennis Samuels (Lindo) offers to teach him. While the young Jewish boy at first has no qualms about befriending the Samuels, the rest of their South London neighbors aren't so accepting, it being the racially-charged 1960s and all, and eventually David finds himself in an awkward situation. Avoids being sappy, and Lindo really rules as the father. 106m/C DVD . Sam Smith, Jo Stone-Fewings, Emily Woof, Leagh Conwell, Dominic Barklem, Delroy Lindo, Carol MacReady, Yasmin Paige, Stanley Townsend; D: Paul Morrison; W: Paul Morrison; C: Nina Kellgren; M: Ilona Sekacz.
