The Resurrected
The Resurrected ★★½ 1991 (R)
One of the best recent H.P. Lovecraft horror adaptations, a fairly faithful try at “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.” Ward learns he has a satanic ancestor who possessed the secret of resurrection and eternal life—but, as the warlock says, it is very messy. Surprisingly tasteful even with occasional gore and truly ghastly monsters; in fact this pic could have used a bit more intensity. 108m/C VHS, DVD . John Terry, Jane Sibbett, Chris Sarandon, Robert Romanus; D: Dan O'Bannon; M: Richard Band.
