Quest for Camelot ★★½ 1998 (G)

Camelot's future lies in the hands of heroine Kayley, who sees an opportunity to win a spot at King Arthur's roundtable when Excalibur is stolen by evil knight Ruber (Oldman). On her quest to recover the sword, she meets blind hermit Garrett and twoheaded dragon Devon and Cornwall (Idle and Rickles). With an allstar cast, this first fulllength animated feature from Warner Bros. wants to be a contender for the Disney animation crown, but can't quite overcome its familar story, onedimensional villain, and forgettable songs. However, Kayley and Garrett are strong, nonstereotypical characters that children and adults will welcome. Based on the children's novel “The King's Damosel” by Vera Chapman. 85m/C VHS, DVD. D: Frederick Du Chau; W: Kirk De Micco, William Schifrin, David Seidler; M: Patrick Doyle; V: Jessalyn Gilsig, Cary Elwes, Gary Oldman, Eric Idle, Don Rickles, Jane Seymour, Pierce Brosnan, Gabriel Byrne, Bronson Pinchot, Jaleel White, John Gielgud. Golden Globes '99: Song (“The Prayer”).
