MILLER, May. American, b. 1899. Genres: Poetry, Plays/Screenplays. Career: Poet, educator, and playwright. Leader in Negro Little Theatre Movement; teacher of speech and drama at Frederick Douglass High School, Baltimore, MD; panelist, reader, lecturer, and poet-in-residence at Monmouth College, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and Phillips Exeter Academy. Coordinator of performing poets for Friends of the Arts, Washington, DC, Public Schools. Chair of literature division and member of Commission on the Arts of the District of Columbia; member of Folger Library Advisory Committee.
