Incident at Oglala: The Leonard Peltier Story ★★★ 1992 (PG)

Offers a detailed account of the violent events leading to the murder of two FBI agents in Oglala, South Dakota in 1975. American Indian activist Leonard Peltier was convicted of the murders and is presently serving two consecutive life sentences, but he's cited as a political prisoner by Amnesty International. The documentary examines the highly controversial trial and the tensions between the government and the Oglala Nation stemming back to the Indian occupation of Wounded Knee in 1973. Director Apted is sympathetic to Peltier and offers reasons why he should be allowed a retrial; he examined similar incidents in his film “Thunderheart.” 90m/C VHS, DVD. D: Michael Apted; M: John Trudell, Jackson Browne; Nar: Robert Redford.
