The First $20 Million is Always the Hardest ★ 2002 (PG-13)

Dismal “comedy” about the late dotcom economy is itself late by at least a year. Not that timeliness would've helped this muddled, desparateforlaughs mess. Marketing whiz Andy (Garcia) leaves his corporate gig to “do something important.” He joins a hot tech firm run by digital guru Francis (Colantoni) who immediately resents him and assigns him to the hopeless project of trying to create a $99 PC. He assembles a quirky team of misfits for the project and geek jokes ensue. Only Dawson, as Andy's love interest, escapes with any dignity. Based on the Po Bronson novel. 105m/C VHS, DVD . Adam Garcia, Rosario Dawson, Jake Busey, Enrico Colantoni, Ethan Suplee, Gregory Jbara, Dan E. Butler, Linda Hart, Anjul Nigam; D: Mick Jackson; W: Jon Favreau, Gary Tieche; C: Ron Garcia; M: Marco Beltrami.
