The Final Cut ★½ 2004 (PG-13)

After “One Hour Photo” Williams plays another guy involved in images, this time in a subdued scifi thriller. In the nearfuture, newborns are implanted with a chip that records their entire life—good, bad, and inbetween. Alan Hakman (Williams) is a cutter who splices the appropriate footage of the deceased together as a funeral memorial. Then Hakman is asked to create a memorial of the recentlydeceased chipmaker, a guy with some shady dealings that put Hakman in danger. Caviezel plays an antichip activist who wants an expose and Sorvino is Williams' exgirlfriend who didn't care for his video obsession. The premise has certainly been done before and in much more enthralling movies. 104m/C DVD . CA GE Robin Williams, Mira Sorvino, James (Jim) Caviezel, Mimi Kuzyk, Brendan Fletcher, Vincent Gale, Thom Bishops, Casey Dubois, Liam Ranger; D: Omar Naim; W: Omar Naim; C: Tak Fujimoto; M: Brian Tyler.
